Award winning cartoonist and film maker Derek Kirk Kim sits down with me to talk about creativity, success, and expectation.

Derek has such an amazing journey to share and it’s not one that you hear very often, usually people work for years to find success and recognition but for Derek, his debut graphic novel Same Difference was met with both success and grand recognition winning Eisner, Ignatz, and Harvey awards.

With those awards being something that most creators aspire towards and would love to obtain, what happens when a creator reaches the top of the mountain on their first try?

This is Derek’s story. So get ready for this one Dream Team, Derek has so much insight to share! Comics Manifest Episode 103 with cartoonist and film maker Derek Kirk Kim!

Updates, Interviews, and More

Hey Dream Team, you’ve probably noticed that the podcast hasn’t been updated for the last couple of weeks. I apologize for not being more vocal about this recent hiatus on the podcast but if you are signed up for the Comics Manifest newsletter you’ve been getting weekly updates concerning my goings on and what I’ve been working on. Not to spoil anything but it’s been a lot of writing and a lot of drawing, I’ve been working on my own comics project.

I’ve been completely consumed by my comic project, I just could pull myself away. I know that some of you know exactly what I’m talking about.

Anyway today I want to give you some good news about the podcast, it’s return, and what you can look forward to as I change things up a little bit and start including an aspect of the podcast that has gone under the radar for far too long.

I hope you enjoy the direction the podcast is heading, for a long time I’ve struggled to find that sweet spot, you know, a place where not only do I deliver incredible content for you but a place where I also feel completely thrilled and excited to make it. I think I’ve found that sweet spot.

So this week, to prepare for some new content I’ll be airing 3 re-broadcasted episodes of the show. These are going to be my 3 favorite episodes that I think went under the radar. They are packed with inspiration and insight and if you haven’t heard them yet I know that you are going to love them.

And with that being said, I’ll see you in 1 week.
