You can have that control

There is a certain struggle that many creatives face in this day and age, the thing I’m talking about is the struggle to get things done. In this episode I bring on the expert to talk about what we can do to address, measure, and manage our productivity.

Eisner Award winning cartoonist, author, and educator Jessica Abel (La Perdida, Drawing Words and Writing Pictures, Mastering Comics) joins me to talk about getting your work done. And, Jessica is the perfect person to talk about this, not only has she written multiple books on creativity and created a podcast series that addresses storytelling but she has been exploring her own productivity and getting better at it for years.

Do you feel like something is stopping you from getting your work done, feel overwhelmed, not good enough, anxious? This episode might be something you’re looking for.

Also, if you feel like diving deeper into productivity Jessica has courses, blog posts, and videos all on her website that will help you discover what you can do to do the work you want to do instead of just talking about it. Link below

We got to draw our own comic book and that was satisfaction enough

Hey Dream Team, welcome to episode 111 with comics legend, Kevin Eastman. Kevin is a cartoonist, writer, publisher and editor of Heavy Metal Magazine, and the co-creator of the comic book that took the world by storm and started ‘Turtle Mania’ The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

As a person who grew up in the 90’s, I am a huge fan of the turtles and I was so excited to connect with Kevin. In this interview I ask him all about his childhood, what it was that gave him the drive to chase this dream, and what happened when he and his partner Peter Laird created a craze.

Kevin’s journey is incredibly inspiring and he shares all the mindsets that he’s developed and cultivated to help him stay focused and inspired to tell his stories.

So get ready for this one, Episode 111 with Kevin Eastman!

Expectations

They can give you a glimpse of a wonderful future, a future of how things will be once you climb that mountain. But, what happens when you reach the top of the climb and what you see are not those green pastures that you expected but rather another larger more difficult mountain to scale?

Expectations can cripple you.

Hey Dream Team, welcome to episode 108 of Comics Manifest and today we have a very special guest, award winning cartoonist, Simon Roy.

He is the co-creator of the Image Comics series Prophet, creator of the graphic novel Jan’s Atomic Heart, and the comic series Habitat.

During this interview Simon and I dive into his experiences in university, art school, breaking into the industry, and how he built his network.

It’s an inspiring chat and he shares a lesson I think many of you who are in school currently or thinking about going to school should pay attention to.
